As co-founder and lead designer, Denise has defined the style and values of ClosetPlace over the past 21 years through her knack for practical design and personal connection. Her thoughtful approach has turned hundreds of everyday spaces into purposeful, beautiful places to live and work. For Denise, great design always starts with listening.
After two decades as a finish carpenter, Bill grew frustrated by how little value builders placed on closets—spaces that shape how we live every day. After building dozens of dysfunctional builder closets, an idea took shape. In 2004, he and Denise founded ClosetPlace to do things differently: designing closets that truly add value to people’s lives.
Over the past 21 years, we’ve learned that the best designs come from collaboration. The understairs game room project was a turning point—a true co-creation with a client who brought ideas, energy, and trust. All the dazzle in the world means nothing if your client can’t feel it. To unlock a project’s potential, a designer must start by listening.
